		<description> Every Year the West Allis / West Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce holds our annual Golf Classic and Cruise. This year we are proud to once again hold this event at beautiful Western Lakes Country Club in Pewaukee. If golfing isn&amp;rsquo;t your thing, cruise the afternoon away and join us for cocktails and dinner afterward.The outing will take place Wednesday, July 16th with registration starting at 9:30am for the Golfers and 1pm for the cruisers.  This event typically has about 140 golfers and 50 Cruisers, with another 30 people for Dinner.  This is an excellent opportunity to  showcase  your business.  By attending as a golfer or cruiser, many sponsorship opportunities, including green sponsorship where you can be at the hole and hand out any promotional item&amp;#39;s. 		<title>A NIGHT IN CASABLANCA - GALA RECAP</title>

		<description>  Mil, WI. On the evening of May 3rd, the Chamber held its very special 50th anniversary celebration and awards dinner at the Tripoli Shrine Center in Milwaukee. For those that attended, it was a warm, fun filled occasion with a delicious dinner, great music, dancing and Vegas-style gambling.  The Chamber was very proud to present awards to Joanie Luedke, Laura&amp;rsquo;s Hallmark, Tom and Judy Fell, and Culver&amp;rsquo;s, the Citizens and Businesses of the Year for West Allis and West Milwaukee respectively.  Special proclamations were given by  Mayor Dan Devine, Village President Ron Hayward, County Supervisor Joe Sanfelippo, and the State of Wisconsin. One other very special award was given as a lifetime achievement award in recognition of services to the Chamber and the Community. Reg Hislop, III  of the Village at Manor  Park was given this award and named the Director Emeritus of the Education Foundation.   We would like to again thank our sponsors, without whom this event could not have been possible. Thank you, Quad Graphics, Alex Toole with State Farm Insurance, Layton State Bank, the Knights of Columbus for volunteering their time to run the Gambling Den, and Pteris floral for the beautiful centerpieces. 		<description>    Dear Members,  I enjoyed helping to plan and orchestrate the 50th Anniversary Gala and Awards Celebration.  I was honored to get to know the Citizen&amp;#39;s and Businesses of the Year from West Allis and West Milwaukee, they are very special people who really care about helping others and their communities. My special thanks to the committee for there hard work in the planning, preparing and setting up the event:  Kim Jankowski, Layton State Bank; Marty McLeond Boville, Heritage Funeral Homes, Dianne Kempen and Michael Wogoman. I would also like to thank the volunteers:  Jerry Falk and the West Allis Knights of Columbus, Barbara Hart, Leah Gregorcich, Dave Kolesari, (Milwaukee Homesite, a new Chamber Member) Deanna Mejchar, Pat Morris, Natasha Rossa, Jennifer Schwasinger, Kitty Wozniak, Tenille Zuba, Karen Jasniewski, and Sue Zwitter.   The After Fives at Summit Credit Union and Lifetime Credit Union were well attended and fun!  Our next After Five is on Tuesday, June 17th at the Painted Parrot.  On July 24th we are holding a  Progressive  After Five on Downtown Greenfield Avenue.  This event will be from 5 until 8pm and we will tour and network at 3-4 different businesses. Please mark your calendar for both of these events.  The charge is $10. for Members and $15 for non-members.  You do not have to RSVP but it is appreciated.  25% of the money collected goes to a Charity.  For the first half of 2008 the money raised is going to be contributed to the American Cancer Society&amp;#39;s Relay for Life.  Our Chamber has a team for this event on Friday July 18th at Nathan Hale High School.  Please call me if you would like some information on it.    Our Committee&amp;#39;s are active and looking for people to offer their time and talents:  The Education Foundation has some new initiatives!  Please read the article in this newsletter for details.  Our Legislative Committee is meeting with the New Mayor, Dan Devine and is looking into various Health Insurance issues.  The Ambassador&amp;#39;s are meeting with and welcoming new Members.  We have a committee for each event; Golf   Cruise, Forks   Corks, the Holiday Charity Party,    Citizen and Business of the Year.    We are excited for our new event at the Milwaukee Mile.  It is fun working with the people at the Mile, Rupena&amp;#39;s Foods, Dunn&amp;#39;s Sporting Goods, Budweiser and the area businesses; Jimmy B&amp;#39;s, (a new Chamber Member), Burnham Bowl, Paulie&amp;#39;s Pub   Eatery, Scooter&amp;#39;s Tap, B   K Bar Supply, Boz&amp;#39;s Sports Bar   Grill, Korbelly&amp;#39;s and Lynch&amp;#39;s.    I would like to see the Member and Community News, Updates and Events section of this newsletter grow, this is free advertising for your information. 		<title>50TH ANNIVERSARY GALA &amp; AWARDS CELEBRATION</title>

		<description>  The Chamber will be having its eleventh annual gala to celebrate its golden anniversary. Sponsored by Quad Graphics and Alex Toole, with State Farm Insurance. The event will take place on May 3rd at the Tripoli Shrine Center in Milwaukee. We are sure that this event will be very fun and exciting as we have set quite the line up. Bobby Way and the Fabulous Wayouts will provide live music and entertainment. There will be casino style gambling by Knights of Columbus, great silent auction items, and a delicious meal.  All of the invitations have been sent, so if you have not received yours in the mail, please contact the Chamber for details.     This Gala will also be a special one. We will be presenting a video filled with the history of the Chamber with mention of our businesses that have been members for 25 years or more. We will also be presenting our annual Citizen and Business of the Year Awards. These awards are given to outstanding citizens and businesses for their longevity in the community, involvement with community-based projects and other contributions that go above and beyond.      The 2007 West Allis / West Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year for West Allis will be awarded to Laura&amp;rsquo;s Hallmark on 68th and Greenfield. They were nominated and chosen for being very involved in the community through various initiatives such as WA Police Crime Stoppers events, served on the Chamber Member Services Committee and because they are &amp;ldquo; a small store with a big heart.&amp;rdquo; Laura&amp;rsquo;s Hallmark has also conducted semi-annual bake sales to raise money for the Holy Assumption Food Pantry.     The 2007 Citizen of the Year for West Allis is Joanie Luedke. Joanie has a long list of accomplishments. She is currently the Director of the Family Resource Center, an excellent place for young children to play in a safe environment and for parents to learn through workshops and seminars. Joanie is also a member of the West Allis/West Milwaukee Board of Education, the Chamber Education Foundation and others. Her contributions have been very important to the community.      The 2007 Business of the Year for West Milwaukee will be awarded to Culver&amp;rsquo;s of West Milwaukee. Owners Mike Busalacchi and Brian Schubring have made sure that their Culver&amp;rsquo;s participates in all of the Village events. According to Village President Ron Hayward, they were the first to move in to the Village  at the start of its &amp;lsquo;renaissance.&amp;rsquo;      The 2007 Citizen of the Year Award for West Milwaukee has been awarded to a couple. Tom and Judy Fell have been Village residents since 1972 serving the village both professionally and charitably. Judy has retired from the WA/WM School District as a teacher at General Mitchell Elementary and Tom is a Sales and Marketing specialist. Together they have formed the Wisconsin Brain Trauma Association, now the Brain Injury Association of Wisconsin, received lifetime service awards from that organization and are recipients of the BIAW Presidents award. They have served as Co-Chairs of the West Milwaukee Centennial Celebration Committee and are active members of the Mustang Booster Club.        The members that will be honored at the Gala are: Allis Bike and Fitness, Anchor Bank, Associated Bank, Able equipment, Community Newspaper, Feld, Schumacher   Co, Glojek Limited Attorneys, Gordie Boucher Lincoln Mercury, John G. Borgwardt Funeral home, M I Bank, Piranha Paper Shredding, Poulos, Sengstock and Budny, Target, Unit Drop Forge, Wells Fargo, West Allis Memorial Hospital, WI Festivals, WI State Fair Park, and the Village at Manor Park. 		<description>  Dear Members,       Our relocation is finished and we are back to business. We are working with Chamber Member, Bill Deuwel with National Sign   Design on window signs and putting the Chamber Name and Logo on the Awning, I am hoping that will be done soon. We are happy with our new location and have had many visitors at our Open House and stopping in on a daily basis. We have additional space to display any information you have on your business, please call or stop in.  The 2008-2009 Chamber Directory is in the works, please contact us or Dickson Matthews from  NovaPrint USA at 765 730 9252 soon if you would like to advertise in the directory. You will need to have your membership dues up to date to be included in the Membership Index, please call if you need to make any payment arrangements.  Our March After Five at Weathertight Corporation, 11400 W Oklahoma was a smashing success! Tod Colbert, Todd Schulz and Michelle Vincent were excellent hosts. There new building is beautiful! They have a grand opening scheduled for Saturday   Sunday, May 17-18, more information will follow. The After Five had around 25 people and we did some great networking, are next After Five is at Summit Credit Union, 2159 Miller Park Way, Nathaniel Lynn is the Branch Manager and he promises that this will also be a great event. We are inviting area businesses to join us at the event to learn about the Credit Union and the Chamber Membership. We will have a table for you to put out any brochures or information about your business.  The Gala is coming soon and we are excited to be hosting our first major event of 2008. You should have received your invitation, please attend.   We are working on hosting a Milwaukee Mile Chamber Community Night on Friday, June 20th for the NASCAR truck series event. This will include a wonderful dinner at the Rupena&amp;#39;s Pavilion at State Fair Park along with free beer, soda, and more. Information will follow soon. We are excited to try something different and hope that you will consider attending this event.  The Golf and Cruise is scheduled for Wednesday July, 16th. Join us for this fun and exciting annual event. Invitations will be out soon.      </description>
