With summer just around the corner, I thought I'd take some time to let you know about all of the great events we have planned for you!! Watch out for flying golf balls and Jolly Rogers . . . On July 18, the Chamber will host its Caribbean Golf & Cruise Outing at Western Lakes Golf Club in Pewaukee. This year's event is filling very fast -- only a few foursomes remain -- so if you want to golf, you better call us soon!! If golfing isn't your thing, then come join us on a luxury yacht cruise around Pewaukee Lake. Caution: Beware of Pirates . . . Our Cruise Director, Maria, will have lots of fun waiting for you. (?) The yacht holds 90 people, features two covered levels, wet bar, appetizers by Saz's and music. We have limited sponsorships available for this event which will draw over 200 business people for lunch, golf, cruise, live Capoeira performance during the cocktail hour and a fabulous Caribbean dinner. Fight Cancer with the Chamber! One day. One night. One community: By participating in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life® at Nathan Hale High School in West Allis on July 13, 2007, you honor cancer survivors, pay tribute to the lives lost to the disease, and raise money to help fight it. Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. At the event, we celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back. During the event, teams of people gather and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. But, Relay is much more than a walk around a track. It is a time to remember those lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived. It is a night for people who have shared the same experience to comfort and console one another. We also celebrate life, friendship, and a chance to work together toward a cancer-free future. An evening of tasting, music and art -- Forks & Corks at the West Allis Farmer's Market The 2nd Annual Forks & Corks event will occur on Friday, September 14, 2007 at the historic West Allis Farmer's Market from 5:30 - 9:30. Sample the delicious menu items of local restaurants to the tastes of fine wines and beers while you listen to the fabulous sounds of Opan Jii jazz band and take in the works of local artists. The cost to attend is $35.00 per person before August 24th and $40.00 after. Last year's event was a smashing success drawing about 400 guests from all over Metropolitan Milwaukee. If you are a restaurant/caterer or artist and would like to participate -- please call us! We still have booths available. Restaurant certificates, wines, beers and art will be available for purchase at the event. Bring your lawn chair and a few good friends for an evening to remember at the Farmer's market. Summer Wining & Dining When the kitchen gets too hot, please patronize our area restaurants and if you are looking for wine, make sure to check out Chuckie’s House of Wine (last year’s Forks & Corks sponsor), Majdecki’s and Rupena’s. Don’t forget to check out our Best of the West Dining Week for $5 lunch and $10 dinner specials during the week of July 23-29, 2007 (see page 5 for more details!)ze the good work of all! |
