A "Sportsmen's and Wives Night Out" fundraiser dinner was held on Monday, June 5, 2006 to benefit two city employees who were injured in a tragic accident in March 2006. While maintaining the city sanitary sewer lines two employees, Scott Hansen and Harry "Butch" Norlander, were struck by a vehicle and both men were severely injured. Community members, Rupena's, and wildlife artist Tim Leonardelli held a benefit for these two men on June 5th at Whitnall Summit. Over three hundred community members were in attendance for the raffles, door prizes, silent auction, live auction and games, which raised over $14,000. Rupena's provided their famous spit-roasted chicken and Black Angus top round.
"We were so proud to be part of this wonderful event to benefit these deserving men and their families", said West Allis / West Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce President, Gerise LaSpisa. "To see the community come together in this fashion was really a fantastic experience. It makes us all proud."
