FORKS & CORKS EVENT A SMASHING SUCCESS WITH ALMOST 400 IN ATTENDANCE!
It seems like every time I turn around, someone is remarking about how much West Allis and West Milwaukee are changing.  We've all been to Summit Place and seen the transformation.  We've driven down Miller Park Way.  Change is good.  However, some things are worth holding on to.

Last Friday, we pulled off an awesome  and successful premier event, Forks & Corks. It was new, it was different , it was fabulous. What was most remarkable about this event, though, was how our communities came together to ensure this event's success.  Forks & Corks was an untried, untested out of the box concept. It was new.  It required change in thought.  What made it work though was the fact that everyone embraced it and pitched in to help it be successful.  City Hall got behind the idea.  The Farmer's Market/Health Department rolled up their sleeves to work with us to make the event work.  We got park benches delivered by City Yards.  The School District pitched in and let us borrow tables and chairs.  The Police Reserves helped us with parking.  Every exhibitor got behind the vision and gave of themselves to make this event successful. This generous community spirit or culture is something that I've seen demonstrated over and over in our communities.  It is a characteristic that  we should continue to cultivate and strive to keep alive as we forge ahead with change.   Let's make sure that as we continue to evolve our communities to stay competitive that we hold tight to our community spirit.

Thank you to all of our exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers and those that believed in my vision and helped make our event happen.  Please show your support of our exhibitors and sponsors by patronizing their businesses.  They worked very hard to make our communities shine last Friday!
