May marks my first anniversary with the Chamber! I can't believe how fast the year has passed. In 2005-06, I've had a lot of firsts. Two of the more outrageous things: I was both a human hockey puck and a tavern wench! Some of the most inspiring firsts: forming partnerships with the Hmong and Hispanic Chambers and forming YPSM. Some of the most difficult firsts: changing the Chamber office locks, getting the landlord to fix our air conditioning, and of course, attending wine tastings to learn how to throw a good one!As I enter my second year with you, I've decided to take on some challenges. The first is a health challenge. Moving from the frantic pace of the courthouse to the Chamber has been huge - physically. First off, I'm not moving as much as I used to. Second, much of the job includes food. Think about it, ribbon cuttings, working meetings over lunch hour, dinners, breakfasts . . . Health is a huge issue for all of us now - healthy living styles, healthy eating styles, physical health and of course, the big whopper - health insurance. We are all concerned about it. We all talk about getting healthy. Well, as part of my second year goals, I will be participating in the 100 days of Wellness being launched by the Centennial Committee of the City of West Allis. I challenge you and your employees to join me on this quest for better health! Over the next few months and up until the 100th day of Wellness that will culminate on July 30th with a 5k run walk, I will be watching what I eat and increasing my physical activity. With the assistance of the staff at the Wisconsin Athletic Club, I will incorporate both in-gym activities and out-of gym activities. The WAC will also give Chamber members $25 off the joining fee, which currently only costs $25. I will also follow the Weight Watchers Core Program. I invite all of you to learn about my fitness plan and will keep Chamber members informed on my progress. Why? Getting fit and leading a healthier lifestyle affects your bottom line in the form of less sick days, less doctor visits, more productivity. Business Expo is just around the Corner! Space is limited, so book your booth NOW! The Business Expo 2006 entitled "The Power of Partnerships" will occur on May 31st. Space is filling fast for both booths and the Breakfast. This year's Expo will provide you with more opportunities to network and learn. We've added space. We've included a Business "After 4!" During our Seminars you will have the opportunity to learn. For just $125.00 you will be a part of this great opportunity. I hope that you will join me at this wonderful event. We're working very hard to provide you with value. Let us show you what we've done to change our Expo. |
